FueledRuck Privacy

Last updated · October 5, 2026

Every step priced for the weight you carry.

Overview

This privacy policy describes how FueledRuck, an app made by Apex Made, LLC, handles information you provide while using it. It applies only to FueledRuck; other Apex Made apps each have their own policy.

What we collect

  • Your rucks, routes, splits, heart-rate samples, gear, training plans, recovery check-ins, fuel logs, weight and the check-in contact you pick are stored on your device. Apex Made never receives them.
  • If you create a safety live link, your position, distance, elapsed time, load, back-by time and the first name you chose are sent to our beacon server (live.fueledruck.com) every 30 seconds during that ruck. Anyone with the link can see them. When you finish, the page stops showing your route and position and only says you finished safely; it is deleted 24 hours later, and Stop sharing, during or after the ruck, deletes it at once.
  • If you join the monthly challenge, your first name and last initial, your monthly totals (distance, load-distance, number of rucks) and the ID CloudKit gives your iCloud account for this app are posted to a public leaderboard that other FueledRuck users can see. Workouts imported from Apple Health don't count. Leaving the challenge deletes your entries for every month.

Third parties

  • Everyone who handles your data for FueledRuck (Apple, for Apple Weather and iCloud; Cloudflare, for the live link) protects it at least as well as this policy does. Apex Made shares your data with no one else.
  • Apple Weather (WeatherKit) — when you open the Ruck screen and when a ruck starts, the app sends Apple your location rounded to about 1 km to get the temperature, humidity and wind. No name or account is sent, and Apex Made never receives it.
  • Cloudflare, Inc. — hosts the beacon server behind the safety live link. Cloudflare may process request metadata as part of standard hosting. See Cloudflare's privacy policy at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
  • OpenStreetMap — people who open a live link load the map from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org) and the map code from Cloudflare's cdnjs, so OpenStreetMap sees which area the map shows.

iCloud sync

Crews use Apple's CloudKit sharing. Anyone who joins through a crew's invite link becomes a member, and the crew owner can see and remove members. Each ruck you save is posted to your crews (title, date, distance, load, climb and score, with your display name); workouts imported from Apple Health and heart rate are never shared. Live sharing is off until you turn it on, and your position is never shared within 300 m of where a ruck starts. Crew data is stored in the crew owner's iCloud account and shared only with members; Apex Made cannot see it. Before you create or join a crew or the monthly challenge, you agree to the crew rules: no offensive names or titles, harassment, threats, spam or fake activity, with zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Anyone can hide or report a member or a leaderboard name. A report is an email to hello@apexmade.ai with the reported name, the ID CloudKit gives them for this app, where it appeared and the reason; Apex Made acts on every report within 24 hours. If we ban someone after a report, that ID goes on a list in CloudKit's public database that the app reads to hide them everywhere; nothing else about them is on it. Leaving a crew deletes your rucks and live position from it; deleting a crew you run deletes everything in it for everyone.

Your choices

Turn off Location, Photos, Apple Health or notifications for FueledRuck in Settings at any time. Stop sharing deletes a live link at once. Turn off Share live rucks with my crews in You › Crew. Leave or delete a crew. Leaving the challenge, or Remove my past challenge entries in the Crew tab, deletes every entry you posted.

Photos

If you turn on "Photos on the route map" (in You › On the ruck, or with Continue on a ruck's photo card), FueledRuck looks in your photo library for photos taken during each ruck and shows them on the route where you took them. It reads each photo's time and, if the photo has one, its location. FueledRuck stores only a reference to each photo, never a copy: the photos stay in your library, and deleting one there removes it from the ruck. With Selected Photos access, FueledRuck sees only the photos you chose. Photos are never uploaded, and they appear on a share card or replay video only when you make one and choose where to send it.

Diagnostics

FueledRuck keeps a short diagnostic log on your device, such as when a ruck finished and was saved or when a video export started and stopped, and Apple may hand the app crash and performance reports through MetricKit. None of it includes your location, health data or photos. It stays on your device unless you tap You › Share diagnostics and choose where to send it.

Purchases

FueledRuck Pro is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; Apex Made never sees your payment details, name or Apple Account. The app asks the App Store whether your Apple Account holds Pro and remembers the answer on your device.

Apple Health

Apple Health is optional. When you tap Continue on the Apple Health page (during setup, or in You › Apple Health if you haven't answered yet; reading is free), Apple Health asks what to share with FueledRuck, and you can change it any time in Settings. FueledRuck reads your body weight, heart rate, resting heart rate and heart-rate variability to make energy, zones and readiness accurate, and your workouts and workout routes so a ruck is never saved twice and, when you tap Import hikes & walks, to bring in hikes and walks from the last six months. With Save rucks as workouts on (part of FueledRuck Pro, an in-app purchase), each ruck is saved to Apple Health as a hiking workout with its route, distance and load-adjusted energy, and each ruck shows whether it was saved. Health data is used only inside the app, is never sent to Apex Made or anyone else, and is never used for advertising.

Apple Watch

The Watch app (part of FueledRuck Pro) records heart rate and, with the Watch's own GPS, your route. It asks for Apple Health and Location the first time a ruck runs on it; recording a ruck on the Watch needs Workouts allowed in Apple Health, even when nothing is saved there. For rucks you start on your iPhone it runs the workout session and adds its route; for rucks you record on the Watch alone it sends the finished ruck to your iPhone over Apple's WatchConnectivity when they next connect. Either way it saves the workout to Apple Health, so it counts toward your Activity rings, only when Save rucks as workouts is on and Pro is active. This data moves only between your own devices.

Siri & Shortcuts

Siri, Shortcuts, the Action Button and the Control Center button start or pause a ruck on your device under Apple's terms. Apex Made does not receive them.

Widgets

Widgets show a summary of your week that the app writes on your device.

Notifications

Notifications are used for your back-by check-in, an optional next-morning recovery reminder, and a Start your ruck prompt when you start a ruck from your Watch while the iPhone app is closed. They are scheduled on your device.

Sharing

"Text my location" opens Messages with a map link; you choose whether to send it. Share cards and replay videos are made on your device and shared only when you pick a destination.

Notes

  • Location is used during a ruck, from Start to Finish, to draw your route and measure distance, pace and climb; tracking continues with the screen off and stops when you finish. It is also used when you open the Ruck screen, to show the map and get the weather for your fuel plan; nothing is recorded until you start a ruck. Distance needs precise location, so with approximate location FueledRuck asks for precise location for that ruck.
  • Apart from the rounded weather lookup, your position leaves your device only through a safety live link or live sharing with your crew (both off until you turn them on), or in a message, share card or GPX file you send yourself.
  • No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs.

Data retention & deletion

Data stored on your device stays there until you delete it or the app. Challenge entries stay on the public board until you leave the challenge, remove them in the Crew tab (Remove my past challenge entries), or ask us; deleting the app doesn't remove them. Crew posts stay in the crew until you leave it or its owner deletes it. To request deletion of any data we may hold, email hello@apexmade.ai.

Children’s privacy

FueledRuck is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-app.
