Clackline Privacy

Last updated · September 22, 2026

A board for your room. Nothing else.

Overview

This privacy policy describes how Clackline, an app made by Apex Made, LLC, handles information you provide while using it. It applies only to Clackline; other Apex Made apps each have their own policy.

What we collect

  • Apex Made does not collect or receive any of your data. Your messages, task lists, art, timers, schedules, rotation settings and history are stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account. Apex Made runs no server and has no account system.

Third parties

None. Clackline uses no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. The live feeds you turn on contact the services named below directly from your device; nothing passes through Apex Made.

iCloud sync

Clackline syncs your boards through iCloud Key-Value storage so your iPhone, iPad and Apple TV show the same thing. Synced data lives in your personal iCloud account under Apple’s privacy policy. Apex Made does not have access to it. If you are not signed into iCloud, everything simply stays on the device.

The latest result of each live feed you turn on (the weather, your team’s score, the next calendar event, the current headline, your metric) is saved in the board and synced the same way, so a screen that cannot fetch it itself can still show it.

Live feeds

A new board starts with weather switched on and every other feed off. Each feed that is on contacts the service named below, from your device, only to fetch what the board shows. Nothing passes through Apex Made.

  • Weather — uses Apple’s WeatherKit. Your device sends its approximate location to Apple to get the forecast, under Apple’s privacy policy. The app asks for location permission only when you ask for weather: opening the Feeds screen, tapping Allow under the board, or the weather row in the Apple TV menu. It never asks at launch. It keeps one coarse fix (city-level accuracy) on the device for up to six hours so it does not ask again on every refresh. Location is never written to the board, synced or shared.
  • Calendar — on iPhone and iPad, reads your calendars through Apple’s EventKit, with your permission, to find the next event. Only that event’s title and time go on the board (and into iCloud sync with it). Nothing is sent to any service. Not available on Apple TV.
  • Scores — fetches your team’s schedule and scores from ESPN’s public website (espn.com). The request carries the team you typed and your device’s IP address, as any web request does. ESPN’s privacy policy applies to what their servers see.
  • Headlines — fetches the public RSS feed of the source you choose (NPR, BBC News, The New York Times, The Guardian, Wall Street Journal or ESPN), or any RSS or Atom URL you paste. The request goes straight to that publisher, whose privacy policy applies. Only headline text is kept.
  • Metric — if you enter a web address (https only), the app fetches JSON from it on the refresh schedule you set. What that server receives is between you and it.
  • Quotes — contacts nothing. The quote library is built into the app, and each screen works out which quote to show from the time of day. Quotes you write yourself are saved in the board and synced through iCloud like the rest of it.

Feeds are fetched only while the app is open; there is no background activity. When a feed cannot be fetched, or is waiting for a permission, the board says so in plain words. It never shows made-up data as if it were live.

Purchases

Clackline Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; Apex Made never sees your payment details, name or Apple Account. The app reads from the App Store whether your Apple Account holds Plus, and saves only its end date in your boards’ iCloud data, so every screen in your home agrees.

Siri & Shortcuts

If you post by voice (“Post to Clackline”) or through Shortcuts, your request is handled by Apple’s Siri and App Intents on your device under Apple’s terms. The app receives only the message text or command and handles it the same as something you type: it goes on the board and syncs through your iCloud account. Apex Made does not receive it.

Data retention & deletion

Data stored on your device stays on your device until you delete the app or clear its data from iOS Settings. To request deletion of any data we may hold, email hello@apexmade.ai.

Children’s privacy

Clackline is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-app.
